Short Namibia Tours

If you don’t have much time to explore Namibia on a longer trip or have a few days before or after your main tour, you can experience the country on a short Namibia tour. Our short trips take you to the wildlife rich Etosha National Park or the stunning sand dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. We take care of the logistics and book your accommodation; you travel with our experienced guides in a sturdy but comfortable tour vehicle. Just sit back and enjoy the experience.

Accommodations

CHARMING SAFARI & DESERT CAMPS

Our short Namibia tours start in Windhoek. Windhoek is a little different from most capitals and so are its accommodation options. You won’t have to overnight in a large anonymous city hotel with bland breakfast options. Instead, you can stay at one of the charming guesthouses – a small garden and sometimes even a small pool, these owner-run boutique houses offer warm Namibian hospitality. In Etosha National Park and Sossusvlei you can choose from a variety of options: from back to basic to highly luxurious. In our itineraries, we suggest accommodations, but you can change these for other options according to your budget and preferences.

Vondelhof Guesthouse

The Vondelhof Guesthouse in central Windhoek is a popular starting point for short Namibia tours.

Guest tent at Elegant Desert Camp

The Elegant Desert Camp offers natural luxury in a stunning location.

Okonjima Plains Camp on short Namibia tours

Okonjima Plains Camp is the best place to stay to visit the AfriCat Foundation.

What to expect on short Namibia tours?

Sossusvlei short tours from Windhoek

Sossusvlei with its iconic Deadvlei and the Sesriem Canyon is one of the highlights on many Namibia trips. The driving distance between Windhoek and the Sossusvlei region of the Namib Desert is around 340km and about 4 hours one way – which is why we don’t offer strictly speaking day trips from Windhoek to Sossusvlei. We do however offer a two-nights, three-days trip to Sossusvlei: This short Namibia tour gives you a full day in the Sossusvlei area to enjoy the vast sea of dunes in the oldest desert in the world, walk up the tall Big Daddy dune, explore the white clay pan of the Deadvlei with its camelthorn trees and walk the Sesriem Canyon. You have the option of going in one of our 4×4 safari vehicles and together with one of our local guides or do a self-drive trip. You spend two nights at the beautiful Elegant Desert Eco Camp (or similar) in a stunning location. Three days well spent, without being in a rush.

If you have a bit more time, you can go on a 4-day, 3-nights short Namibia tour and see the desert as well as the ocean: from the sand dunes of Sossusvlei to the Atlantic Ocean at Swakopmund. Along the way, you see the impressive Spitzkoppe, a well-known site in Namibia.

Short Namibia tours to Etosha National Park from Windhoek

Etosha is the wildlife viewing highlight of Namibia and a bucket list destination for many visitors to Southern Africa. Its distance from Windhoek is about 460km or a 5-hour drive one way. As we don’t recommend driving on Namibian roads in the dark, we don’t offer a day trip in the literal sense of the word. However, we do offer two-nights, three-days trips to Etosha National Park from Windhoek. This allows you more than a full day of game viewing in Etosha, looking for elephants, lions, zebras, and many more iconic animals of the African bush. You can choose to go in one of our safari vehicles and together with a guide or do a self-drive trip. You spend two nights in an authentic safari camp, getting a real feel for life in the bush.

On a 4-day trip, we can even include a visit to the AfriCat Foundation at the private Okonjima Nature Reserve. This foundation is well-known for the conservation of big cats in Namibia.
