WHERE TO EXPERIENCE IT

THERE IS NO PLACE MORE SECLUDED AND PRIVATE THAN NAMIBIA’S DESERTS, MOUNTAIN RANGES AND COASTLINE

Namibia is blessed with a vast number of secluded and remote national parks and private conservancies, which make for exclusive honeymoon getaways.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy romantic togetherness without having to navigate large crowds, you will find it in the expanses of the Kalahari, the solitude of the Damaraland and at the mystical Skeleton Coast, where the desert meets the ocean.

When to go

Whether you go during the high or low season, you will enjoy a sunny honeymoon in Namibia. So whether you tie the knot in summer or winter, you can go on your honeymoon right after.

The climate overall is dry and warm and Namibia enjoys more than 300 sunny days a year on average. Depending on your preferred activities, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing your travel dates.

Dry Season

June to OctoberBest for safaris in Etosha National Park

June to OctoberBest for safaris in Etosha National Park

If your honeymoon includes an exciting safari in Etosha National Park we recommend travelling during the dry season between June and October. During these months, many of the water sources in the park dry up, leaving only few waterholes for animals to quench their thirst. Here, you can see a variety of animals all in one place. Temperatures are comfortably warm during the day, but it can get very cold at night.

It’s best to book about one year in advance when travelling during the high season. However, if you’re flexible and open to explore different accommodations and itineraries, you can be lucky when booking at short notice as well.

Green Season

November to MayBest for short-notice bookings and lower rates

November to MayBest for short-notice bookings and lower rates

Travelling during the green season does not mean that rain will spoil your honeymoon. In Namibia, rain is localised and falls in strong but short bursts.

It is a wonderful spectacle to see nature come back to life after many months of dryness. It’s a great time to enjoy even more privacy with lower occupancy rates at the popular camps and sites.

The months December to February can get very hot during the day. If you want to get active on your honeymoon, you would need to get up early, to enjoy cooler morning hours.

If your wedding has not left a big budget to splurge on your safari honeymoon in Namibia, travelling during the low season months may be a good idea to benefit from lower rates.

YOUR TAILOR-MADE HONEYMOON EXPERIENCE

Experience a unique honeymoon unlike anything you’ve ever imagined. From spectacular sunsets to high dunes, classic safari adventures and romantic nights under the starry night sky.

How to experience your honeymoon in Namibia

Depending on your time available, budget and sense of adventure, you have different options to experience your Namibia honeymoon package:

You can go on a self-drive trip, travelling in a rental car from one place to the next – a wildly romantic road trip adventure to begin the start of your married life.

Alternatively, you can book a private guided tour and travel in our comfortable 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers, driven by your private tour guide. Every detail of your trip will be planned by us, you can handover all responsibility and just enjoy the ride.

The most luxurious way to reach your Namibian honeymoon resort is a fly-in safari. Flying by small aircraft from one game reserve to the next allows you to spend more time at your chosen accommodation, enjoying the activities offered.

How to plan your honeymoon package

Chances are you’ve been busy planning your wedding over the past months and planning another important event in your life like your safari honeymoon in Namibia sounds like quite a daunting task on top of it. That’s where we come in:

Our experienced and service-oriented travel experts know Namibia like the back of their hand. After an initial conversation to learn about your wishes, expectations and general framework of the trip, they will get to work and plan your trip from beginning to end, incorporating your feedback along the way. You can get involved as much or as little as you want!

Budget-friendly honeymoon options

While most couples opt to spend their honeymoon in rather luxurious camps and lodges, you can save money and have just as a unique and special experience.

If you spent most of your allocated budget on the wedding itself, Namibia offers great options for a budget-friendly honeymoon: Self-drive trips are less expensive than fly-in safaris and camping or overnighting at guest houses and farms is less expensive than staying at luxurious lodges. We know incredibly beautiful camps in the middle of nature that will not break the bank.

Compared to national parks in East Africa, entry fees in Namibia are low and there are many activities to experience outside of national parks as well.

Add a luxury highlight along the way to treat yourself to a special accommodation or experience. Speak to us and we will organise your trip around your budget.

What to see and do on romantic getaways in Namibia

The beauty of a trip to Namibia is its diverse range of activities:

If this is your first trip to the continent and you want to experience a wildlife safari honeymoon in Namibia, you can visit the famed Etosha National Park to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras and many more icons of the wildlife kingdom in their natural habitat.

Uniquely Namibian are the desert adapted elephants in the Damaraland region or the wild horses in the Luderitz area.

To have an even better safari experience, combine your Namibia honeymoon with a crossing-border trip to Botswana and visit the iconic Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park or fly to South Africa’s Kruger National Park. With our sister companies being based in Maun, Botswana, and close to Cape Town, South Africa we are in a unique position to arrange seamless multi-country trips in Africa.

If spending time in nature is your way to relax, you will find many picturesque hiking trails in Namibia’s stunning landscapes and mountain regions.

Adventurous couples make memories that last a lifetime on sky diving, sand boarding, fat bike and quad tours around Swakopmund. And a hot air balloon ride across the vast Namib Desert as the early morning sun begins to rise is an experience you will never forget.

After all the activities, sit back and relax, enjoy a sundowner and the sunset – a classic Namibian experience.
