Namibia Camping Holiday
Your million-star holiday in Namibia’s great outdoors
Guided Namibia Camping Safaris
The sun sets on the far horizon, colouring the world around you in a pastel pink, as the wind gently sweeps through the grass, cooling down the heat of the day and letting the flames of your campfire dance. On a Namibia camping holiday, it’s just you and the enchanting magic of the great outdoors. You spend day and night in nature: exploring hot deserts, wide valleys, wildlife-rich national parks, and stormy coastlines by day and sleeping in your canvas tent on unfenced campsites, covered by a blanket of a million stars at night. Cooking on the open fire, sharing stories around the campfire, waking up to the first rays of sunshine – our Namibia camping safaris take you on an adventurous journey in the middle of nature.
For the wild at heart and those who love the great outdoors, a guided camping safari is the perfect option to get more intimate with Namibia’s astonishing natural wonders. We have carefully handpicked our guided camping safari routes and destinations to show you Namibia in all its unadulterated glory, taking your bush experience back to basics but without compromising on your comfort and peace of mind.
You are accompanied by an experienced local guide who will also drive your 4×4 Toyota safari vehicle. You overnight in 2-person dome tents (1.8m | 5.9 feet in height) and sleep in your sleeping bag on comfortable mattresses. Our Namibia camping holidays are designed as participation safaris: we ask you to assist your guide in setting up and taking down the camp. You are also welcome to help your guide preparing meals and working magic in the camp kitchen. The more you get involved, the better your camping experience gets. What might sound like doing chores during your holiday is simply part of the bush camping lifestyle and makes for an authentic experience – chopping vegetables or cleaning the dishes with a view under the open sky is a very different experience than doing it at home.
You travel with your friends and family only on a private guided camping safari, following a tailor-made Namibia camping route. Our travel experts regularly travel across the country, looking for the best campsites in Namibia so they can put together the perfect itinerary for you.
As local Namibian tour operator, we not only create your itinerary, but book your accommodations, provide the camping equipment, the tour vehicle as well as the guide. You can hand-over all responsibility and just enjoy your trip.

Accommodations
SLEEP UNDER CANVAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NATURE
On a Namibia camping holiday, your home in the wild is a two-person dome tent: 1.8m (5.9 feet) high, 2.5×2.5m (8×8 feet) square, waterproof, and equipped with mosquito netting on door, windows and at the top – for that extra skylight on cloudless nights. All that separates you from the great outdoors is the canvas around you. You sleep on a comfortable 5cm (2 inch) mattress on the ground in your sleeping bag. We provide chairs, tables, plates, cutlery, and cooking equipment as well as food. Campsites in Namibia are known to have very decent and clean ablution facilities, but don’t necessarily expect a hot shower. Depending on the location, especially at popular places such as Etosha or Sossusvlei, there will be other travellers on the same campsite as you. On other occasions and in more remote areas, it’s just you and the wild in the middle of nowhere. Depending on the safari, you might swap your tent for a few nights in lodge accommodation.
What to expect on a Namibia camping holiday?
A Namibia camping holiday is for the nature-lovers, the adventurers, the young-at-heart. You will spend day and night outdoors – a new experience for many of us and oh so beautiful. During the day, you explore the highlights and hidden gems of Namibia. At night, you setup camp in the middle of nature and enjoy the authentic bush camping experience: campfires, starry night skies and a front-row seat to the nightly bush concert.
Throughout your guided camping safari, you’ll be accompanied by one of our professional local guides who share their knowledge with you. They are your invaluable window into a new country, a new culture. Your guide will also drive the customized 4×4 Toyota tour vehicle. Setting up and packing up camp as well as making the meals is a team effort by guides and guests and part of the authentic bush experience.
You’ll be mesmerized by the vast open spaces, the Namibian night skies and the stillness as you sit around a roaring campfire at an array of picturesque, rustic campsites with good amenities.
The Guided Safari Experience
Going on a guided camping safari instead of a self-drive trip is a great opportunity to hand-over all responsibility for the organisation and running of your trip. Your guide will drive the tour vehicle which means you don’t have to worry about driving distances, routes, or timing. Instead of concentrating on the road, you can concentrate on enjoying yourself. Your guide is not only responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of your trip, but will also share useful information about the country, its people, its culture, and its wildlife. Our guides are local safari professionals and have many years of experience. They keep you safe, they are your eyes and ears on the ground, your window into a new world. We believe: a safari is only as good as the guide who accompanies you!
The Activities
Our guided camping safaris not only take you to the famous destination highlights, such as the Etosha National Park, the Namib Desert and the Brandberg. We also take you to hidden treasures off the beaten track, such as the Kaokoveld in the wild northern reaches of the country or remote areas in the beautiful Damaraland.
On a private camping tour, you can decide which activities to incorporate into your itinerary. We give recommendations on what to do and what to see in the different areas.
Classic game drives in the wildlife-rich Caprivi Strip or Etosha National Park, a visit to a Diamond ghost town, black rhino or desert elephant tracking, a catamaran tour to a fur seal colony, a visit to the famous Sossusvlei and Deadvlei in the oldest desert in the world – there are so many activities to choose from when on a guided Namibia camping tour. What makes a camping trip special is the fact that once the sun begins to set, instead of returning to your lodge, you will stay out there, in the middle of nature, the greatest stage of all.
It was once again well-organized from start to finish. Camping (it was our first time) was definitely an experience. It was an opportunity to slow down on this fantastic journey, to reflect on ourselves in the Namibian nature and to learn to appreciate the simple things in life again. We can say for ourselves: ‘You can leave Africa, but Africa will never leave you’. Thank you again for everything, we will be back.Guided Camping Tour | Iris & Stephan from Germany
