After a hearty breakfast, we’ll rise early, filled with anticipation as we set off south towards the Kgalagadi – the first stop on our guided 4×4 self-drive safari in Namibia and Botswana.

Leaving the well-trodden roads behind, we’ll embark on an adventure through the backroads of southern Namibia, where the landscapes are raw and wild.

Our first stop will be the Kalahari Game Lodge, nestled close to the border with South Africa and the breathtaking Trans Kgalagadi Frontier Park. Here, the golden sands of the Kalahari stretch endlessly, and the promise of incredible wildlife encounters fills the air. Get ready to immerse yourself in the magic of this unique desert environment.

This morning, after a delicious breakfast, we’ll cross the border into the stunning Trans-Kgalagadi Frontier Park, where we’ll spend the next two nights immersed in the wild beauty of the Kalahari.

As we traverse the arid landscapes, we’ll journey through the dry riverbeds of the Auob and Nossob rivers, each turn revealing the rugged charm of this extraordinary region. Our quest will be to seek out the incredible array of animal and bird species that call this unique environment home, from majestic predators to vibrant avian life.

After checking in at Twee Rivieren and crossing into Botswana, we’ll set off into the wild heart of Gemsbok National Park, part of the breathtaking Transfrontier Park. This adventure promises to be nothing short of extraordinary!

As we journey across expansive dunes and vast pans, we’ll venture deeper into the enchanting Mabuasehube region. This area is celebrated for its rich wildlife, and we’ll be on the lookout for the elusive Kalahari black-maned lions, graceful cheetahs, elusive leopards, and the intriguing brown hyenas. Keep your eyes peeled for bat-eared foxes, lynxes, and silver foxes as we explore this remarkable landscape.

After a refreshing night’s rest and a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off on an exhilarating journey along the back roads of southern Botswana, making our way towards the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Our first stop will be in Kang, where we’ll stock up on fuel and supplies, ensuring we’re well-prepared for the adventures ahead. Once we’ve gathered everything we need, we’ll unwind at camp, soaking in the serene atmosphere of this beautiful landscape.

The afternoon will be a perfect opportunity to relax, letting the rhythms of the Kalahari wash over us as we anticipate the incredible experiences that await us in this breathtaking wilderness.

Today, we’ll embark on an incredible journey into the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, where we’ll spend the next two nights exploring the captivating northern section of this wild sanctuary.

Our adventure will take us through the breathtaking landscapes of Xade and Deception Valley, each moment brimming with excitement and discovery. The reserve’s expansive and rugged terrain unfolds before us, revealing vast grasslands teeming with life.

Here, we’ll be on the lookout for an array of magnificent wildlife, including graceful giraffes, stealthy cheetahs, cunning hyenas, and the majestic lions that roam this untamed paradise. As we delve deeper into the beauty of the CKGR, every encounter will connect us to the raw spirit of the Kalahari, making this an unforgettable experience in one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems.

After bidding farewell to the mesmerising landscapes of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, we’ll journey north on our 4×4 self-drive safari in Namibia and Botswana towards Rakops, where we’ll pause to refuel our vehicles and recharge our spirits.

From Rakops, we’ll continue our adventure towards Maun, a vibrant gateway town that beckons travellers heading into the breathtaking Okavango Delta.

Upon our arrival in Maun, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore this lively hub, filled with the warmth of local culture and hospitality. Take this opportunity to indulge in a delicious meal at one of the local restaurants (own expense), savouring the rich flavours of Botswana’s cuisine. As you relax and soak in the atmosphere, you’ll feel the excitement building for the incredible adventures that lie ahead in this stunning country.

Leaving Maun behind, we’ll head east towards the enchanting Moremi Game Reserve and the captivating Khwai Community concession.

As we approach this beautifully preserved area, we’ll find ourselves in a wildlife-rich ecosystem, where a patchwork of lagoons, shallow flooded pans, open grass plains, and lush woodland forests create a stunning backdrop for our adventure.

Over the next two days, we’ll immerse ourselves in this remarkable region, renowned for its diverse array of wildlife and vibrant birdlife. Our camp, nestled along the banks of the serene Mbudi Channel and shaded by majestic Mopane trees, offers the perfect sanctuary to connect with nature.

As we traverse the sandy ridges and past the expansive floodplains of the Chobe, we’ll make our way to the vibrant town of Kasane. The anticipation builds for the afternoon’s adventure – a boat cruise on the majestic Chobe River, where the magic of nature unfolds before our eyes.

As we drift along the water’s edge, keep an eye out for the magnificent elephants making their way to the river for a refreshing drink or a playful swim. Known as the “Land of Giants,” this remarkable region can host over 50,000 elephants during the dry season, creating an unforgettable spectacle of wildlife. As the sun begins to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and gold, we’ll soak in the tranquil beauty of the river.

After this enchanting experience, we’ll return to Kasane for our final dinner (at your own expense) at one of the local restaurants, where we can reflect on the incredible adventures we’ve shared.

Then, it’s time to pack up one last time, holding onto the memories of this incredible journey. As we prepare for your transfer to Kasane International Airport, take a moment to reflect on the stunning landscapes and remarkable wildlife you’ve experienced in Botswana.

With hearts full of adventure and unforgettable moments, we’ll say our farewells as you embark on your connecting flight home, carrying the spirit of Botswana with you. Safe travels until we meet again!
